Moving Again…

Filed under: Uncategorized — jakalphotography @ 2:58 PM

First of all, I want to apologize for any inconvenience this is going to cause any of you…my readers.  I should have waited and just made the one move…DUH, OBVIOUSLY.  But, I didn’t…so, here I am AGAIN moving my blog.  I have to be completely honest and tell you that I am not at the level I should be with my technical skills when it comes to the internet and I honestly thought that this was the blog that I wanted…and it is, but I want to host it under my own URL for more flexibility and so…it’s moving again.  I know there is probably a way that I could have just moved this blog template to my new blog, but do you think that I could figure it out…bahahaha!

Anyway, come see me on my NEW BLOG and I PROMISE, I won’t be moving again for a LONG time!  Looking forward to seeing you there…http://www.jakal-photographyblog.com/.

For today and tomorrow…smile,

Easter Sunday Sweetness

Filed under: Belly, Family — jakalphotography @ 12:25 AM

On Monday I had a client drop me a note, saying that she couldn’t believe that it had already been a year since I had done her son’s six-month photos…last year on Easter Sunday.  It’s funny how people remember these things, the exact dates…because if anyone would have asked me if I worked last year on Easter, I would have had no idea unless I looked it up.  And yet again this year, I was working on Easter Sunday.  People often ask if I get tired of working weekends and holidays…and in all honesty, after working 8 years of shift work…I don’t really even notice.  My family life just seems to work itself around it…for example, this year the Easter Bunny came to leave treats for our children on Thursday night because Mommy was off on Good Friday and could be home to enjoy the festivities.  That’s just the way my life is…and it doesn’t bother me…I just ensure that I enjoy the simple pleasures of family life, when I am at home. 🙂

So, what was I doing on Easter weekend?  Well…like I said, I spent Good Friday at home with my family…as well as Easter Monday.  I had the pleasure of celebrating with Gord & Lisa on their wedding day on Saturday…and I might add…what a BEAUTIFUL day.  And Sunday…well it was busy with capturing lots of special memories for people.  The greatest thing is that I got to capture all of the “sweetness” of other people’s families on Easter Sunday…giving them memories to look back on.  Of course, I love the company of my own family, but it’s also very important to me that I am able to give someone else’s family the treasures of memories to reflect upon for years to come. 🙂  And…here is just a little sneak peek of my Easter Sunday Sweetness.  I’ll try to post more from these shoots soon. 🙂

For today and tomorrow…smile,

Darlene

This is Toby.  He wanted in on Dave & Andrea’s prenatal shoot…lol.

Dave and Andrea are expecting their first born in June…and I can’t wait to meet the little bambino…bebe…baby. 🙂

Then I headed off to a local park, to capture some shots of the Duizer family!  They were soooo much fun!

And last but not least…on the way to Easter dinner with my in-laws…I swung by the Turner residence for some shots of their sweet little family.

Congratulations on your newest addition…little Mr. Mason.

Gordon & Lisa – Married

Filed under: Weddings — jakalphotography @ 3:30 PM

Wow…what wonderful weather for spring weddings…I’m LOVIN it!  I was a little worried on Friday, as they were calling for showers on Saturday, but Gord & Lisa’s special day was gorgeous!  We were outdoors for most of their photos and about 30 seconds after we finished and were heading in for dinner, it started to rain.  Afterall, rain on your wedding day is supposed to mean good luck. 🙂

I met Gord and Lisa for the first time back in December, when they were visiting family in the area for Christmas.  We had so much to chat about and clicked right away…I was instantly excited about shooting their wedding.  Lisa is originally from the Goderich area and Gord from New Liskeard, where I too have family.  So, once we all started talking about cottages, fishing and hunting…well, we had to keep reminding ourselves that we had wedding photography to discuss…lol.  It was great though…it’s such an awesome feeling to know that you can relate with a couple.  They now live near Ottawa, where they are both teachers, but decided to come back to the area and be married at the Benmiller Inn.

The day was perfect…the weather warm and the rain held off until later in the day.  Their spring nature theme fell right in line with the weather and the flowers starting to bloom.  Luann’s Country Flower’s did a fabulous job with the bouquets, while Lisa…along with the help of her family and friends, created the masterpieces in the centre of each table and other decor.  It was gorgeous!  Lisa made sure that every detail of the day fit in perfectly, most of which carried sentiment and meaning…right down to the feathers in the boutonniere, being from the first time she went hunting with Gord.

I’ve had a busy Easter weekend, and by no means have had the chance to go through all of their images, but want to share some of my favourites so far.  Gord and Lisa…thank you sooo much for allowing me to capture these special memories for you.  I wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

For today and tomorrow…smile,

Darlene
