Easter Sunday Sweetness

Filed under: Belly, Family — jakalphotography @ 12:25 AM

On Monday I had a client drop me a note, saying that she couldn’t believe that it had already been a year since I had done her son’s six-month photos…last year on Easter Sunday.  It’s funny how people remember these things, the exact dates…because if anyone would have asked me if I worked last year on Easter, I would have had no idea unless I looked it up.  And yet again this year, I was working on Easter Sunday.  People often ask if I get tired of working weekends and holidays…and in all honesty, after working 8 years of shift work…I don’t really even notice.  My family life just seems to work itself around it…for example, this year the Easter Bunny came to leave treats for our children on Thursday night because Mommy was off on Good Friday and could be home to enjoy the festivities.  That’s just the way my life is…and it doesn’t bother me…I just ensure that I enjoy the simple pleasures of family life, when I am at home. 🙂

So, what was I doing on Easter weekend?  Well…like I said, I spent Good Friday at home with my family…as well as Easter Monday.  I had the pleasure of celebrating with Gord & Lisa on their wedding day on Saturday…and I might add…what a BEAUTIFUL day.  And Sunday…well it was busy with capturing lots of special memories for people.  The greatest thing is that I got to capture all of the “sweetness” of other people’s families on Easter Sunday…giving them memories to look back on.  Of course, I love the company of my own family, but it’s also very important to me that I am able to give someone else’s family the treasures of memories to reflect upon for years to come. 🙂  And…here is just a little sneak peek of my Easter Sunday Sweetness.  I’ll try to post more from these shoots soon. 🙂

For today and tomorrow…smile,

Darlene

This is Toby.  He wanted in on Dave & Andrea’s prenatal shoot…lol.

Dave and Andrea are expecting their first born in June…and I can’t wait to meet the little bambino…bebe…baby. 🙂

Then I headed off to a local park, to capture some shots of the Duizer family!  They were soooo much fun!

And last but not least…on the way to Easter dinner with my in-laws…I swung by the Turner residence for some shots of their sweet little family.

Congratulations on your newest addition…little Mr. Mason.

Scott & his boys

Filed under: Family — jakalphotography @ 3:42 PM

I tried to get together with Scott and his boys back in January, but wow!…what is up with the weather this winter?!?!?  It rained the day that we were scheduled to do their family shoot…so, we postponed it for a couple weeks.  We could have done all indoor shots (as the light in Scott’s living room is fabulous), but with three young boys, full of energy…well, it wouldn’t show their true colours if we made them hang out in the livingroom for the entire shoot.

So, I joined Scott and his boys one Sunday morning in February, over in Bayfield…to capture some lasting memories for Scott.  And, I believe our mission was accomplished, as I captured their true personalities…lol.  The two older, totally into the Nintendo DS…lol…and the youngest, just a tad shy. 🙂  All in all, the boys were awesome and I had so much fun hanging out with these guys.  Like I said, we started at Scott’s place for a few shots in the warmth of their cozy living room, before heading out into the bright and beautiful (but cold) sunshine!  Scott really wanted to get a different and true feeling of living in Bayfield…so, we headed down to the harbour and fish market to do their outdoor shots.

Seriously, these boys made for fabulous shots and I had a SUPER hard time choosing my favourites.  Really…I could have posted all of their images, but it would have taken you forever to look through them all…so, here are just a few of my faves!

For today and tomorrow…smile,

Darlene

MacDonald Family

Filed under: Family — jakalphotography @ 3:26 PM

I have had the privilege of following Kevin & Amanda’s family as they grow.  I started by doing their family shoot back in 2008, with Maranda, while they were expecting their second child.  Then over the past year, I have got to capture the stages of their youngest, Pierce as he grows from a newborn to a year old.  Back in the fall, we had scheduled a session to include the extended family, but weather did just not allow for the outdoor shots, causing us to reschedule.  So, in January Amanda had me do shots of  the extended MacDonald family, along with Pierce’s one-year shoot.  It was fabulous to meet the rest of the MacDonald family…although I did already know most of them.

It really is important to some people (like Amanda and I…lol), to ensure that we document our family as time passes.  I don’t think it’s something that people like us just want to fill their walls with…these images are so much more.  They are to share with our children as they grow, someday to share with our grandchildren and to be passed along for generations to come.  It really is fabulous to have these memories to share.  So, we started off in the warmth of Kevin & Amanda’s home before we ventured to the chilly outdoors for a few more shots.  The kids were awesome and maybe even had some fun…lol.

Thank you MacDonald family for allowing me to capture your memories! 🙂

For today and tomorrow…smile,

Darlene

And I couldn’t leave out James…he sat their patiently waiting for his portrait to be take too. 🙂
