Darryl & Te-Anna – Sneak Peek

Filed under: Weddings — jakalphotography @ 4:30 PM

What a fabulous day for a March wedding!!!  Last year when Darryl and Te-Anna booked me for March 27th for their wedding, I have to honestly admit…I was a little worried about the weather.  In Huron County, especially along Hwy. 21, you NEVER know what the weather is going to do this time of year.  But, wow…mother nature was on their side.  It was a tad chilly, but the sun was shining and the grounds of Hessenland were dry and snow-free! 🙂  Don’t get me wrong…I love to shoot in the snow, but this time of year it tends to be mucky and brown, unless it’s a blizzard…which would not have been ideal either.

I had a fabulous time capturing this couples’ big day.  We did all of their shots right at Hessenland…in the buildings and on the grounds.  Darryl and the groomsmen looked fab in their tuxes, the bridesmaids gorgeous in their gowns and Te-Anna…simply stunning!  Her gown was absolutely phenomenal!  What made the day even more for me, was that I knew almost all of the wedding party, family and guests…which really made it easy to work with everyone.

Now, at the couple’s request…they’d like to see their images before I share.  However, I am going to post a few detail shots and just one group shot as a sneak peek.  I promise I will post more in the weeks to come, once the couple has had the opportunity to see them first. 🙂  I was going to limit it to just details, but Te-Anna had a great idea for a shot…that turned out fantabulous, so I just have to share it!

Darryl and Te-Anna….congratulations on your marriage and I wish you all the best for years to come.  Thank you for including me and allowing me to capture those special memories for you to cherish always.

For today and tomorrow…smile,

Darlene

Gotta love the Candy Bar!  Mmmmm.

St. Paddy’s Day Fun

Filed under: My Family — jakalphotography @ 12:11 AM

Well, I managed to take almost the entire week of March break off, to spend with our children.  We spent hours upon hours making crafts, playing outdoors in that BEAUTIFUL weather, baking and relaxing.  However, by Wednesday, we were all a little stir crazy and needed a day out. 🙂  Being that it was St. Paddy’s day…I “Googled” St. Patrick’s day festivities for the area.  The only age appropriate activity I found for my children was a parade in Stratford…so, we threw on a little green and loaded into the Blazer.

We arrived in Stratford over an hour before the parade…hoping to get an early lunch before hand.  Little did I know, but many of the downtown restaurants don’t open until 11:30…which would have run into the parade time.  However, if I’d have known that the parade was going to only be 4 floats long…I would have opted for the 11:30 lunch…lol.  Anyway, normally I don’t carry my camera with me when I’m not working, but that day I chucked it in my bag with my little nifty fifty lens…and I’m glad I did.  What a great way to pass some time in the downtown streets of Stratford while we waited.

We started off behind the restaurants that were closed…just hanging out.

Then we stopped by Rheo Thompson‘s for some chocolate…to hold the kids over til lunch. 😉

Then we headed over to the town hall for a few shots on the front steps…I love these steps.

The kids decided to get a little goofy…a boxing match and some flying from the second step…lol.

Can you say “mischievous”!?!?!?

And one portrait…to make Mom happy. 🙂

I think that may have been the only time I carried my camera throughout March break…but, they’re memories I’ll cherish forever!

For today and tomorrow…smile,

Darlene

Little Man Titus

Filed under: Babies — jakalphotography @ 12:44 PM

A week ago, I had the opportunity to meet young Titus when he was only six days old.  Of course, I had to post a sneak peek right away to show off how handsome this little man is!  I met John and Krista for the first time at their “belly” shoot back in February, after some of their friends purchased a “Belly to Baby Package” as a gift for them and their baby-to-be.  This couple is amazing and they are going to make the most wonderful parents to this precious little boy.

Of course, I brought along a few props…including a few new ones…and Titus seemed to be up for anything.  He was asleep when I arrived, so we got some sleepy shots right away.  But, even after he awoke and fed a little, he was still so relaxed and content.  He was so cute and snuggly too…with his tiny fingers and toes, tulip shaped lips and his sweet little dimples.  Oh, the memories…of cuddling my little babies. 🙂

To John and Krista…Congratulations!  You have yourself the most perfect little boy.  I wish you all the best and thank you for letting me capture these memories for you.

For today and tomorrow…smile,
Darlene
