Wow…what wonderful weather for spring weddings…I’m LOVIN it! I was a little worried on Friday, as they were calling for showers on Saturday, but Gord & Lisa’s special day was gorgeous! We were outdoors for most of their photos and about 30 seconds after we finished and were heading in for dinner, it started to rain. Afterall, rain on your wedding day is supposed to mean good luck. 🙂
I met Gord and Lisa for the first time back in December, when they were visiting family in the area for Christmas. We had so much to chat about and clicked right away…I was instantly excited about shooting their wedding. Lisa is originally from the Goderich area and Gord from New Liskeard, where I too have family. So, once we all started talking about cottages, fishing and hunting…well, we had to keep reminding ourselves that we had wedding photography to discuss…lol. It was great though…it’s such an awesome feeling to know that you can relate with a couple. They now live near Ottawa, where they are both teachers, but decided to come back to the area and be married at the Benmiller Inn.
The day was perfect…the weather warm and the rain held off until later in the day. Their spring nature theme fell right in line with the weather and the flowers starting to bloom. Luann’s Country Flower’s did a fabulous job with the bouquets, while Lisa…along with the help of her family and friends, created the masterpieces in the centre of each table and other decor. It was gorgeous! Lisa made sure that every detail of the day fit in perfectly, most of which carried sentiment and meaning…right down to the feathers in the boutonniere, being from the first time she went hunting with Gord.
I’ve had a busy Easter weekend, and by no means have had the chance to go through all of their images, but want to share some of my favourites so far. Gord and Lisa…thank you sooo much for allowing me to capture these special memories for you. I wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
For today and tomorrow…smile,
Darlene
